Becoming Bond – George Lazenby. For most, that name will mean nothing, but Bond fans and trivia aficionados alike will recognize him as the infamous “one-time Bond.” The only guy to have ever played the role just once. In Hollywood, his name has become synonymous with an un-iconic, forgettable, short-lived performance. But Lazenby’s stranger-than-fiction story began 28 years earlier in a small town in Australia. Born with only half a kidney, he wasn’t supposed to survive past age 7. He grew up with a reputation for girls, alcohol, and fights but all that all seemed to change the moment he met Belinda. When her father sends her away to England to get her away from him, George decides to follow her there, and thus, unbeknownst to George, the road to Bond was set in motion.
